Lovely London

Text_2

I came out of the Eurostar, turned my head towards the large glass roof and saw that the sky was pretty covered but no matter, it’s London after all. Hard to believe, but with a Lebanese passport you need a visa for pretty much every destination on the planet, so I was always a little more tempted to go further, a lot further than taking the train… The Londoners say Lovely like a Parisian would say « J’adore ! ». Except the Londoners go further: if you ask a waiter for a cold peach tea with maple syrup, by insisting on the [...]

#Rime Arodaky The Folk Holiday

Bad journalist that lets herself be tempted by a picture that a friend sends her ! That’s what I am ! When I got this picture of Rime Arodaky via what’sapp, to be precise, I stopped writing my “Haute Couture” articles that I had to publish last week and jumped into it head first! You have to say, my friend is pretty! She’s delicate without too much froufrou, she is so pretty that she wears a grey cotton dress, and with her the wind is folk, you notice her zig zag head band, but look at those little used beige booties, she’s a real city girl. She is selective, doesn’t have [...]

Celebrating July 14th

Please sir can I have your pair of gloves? They will go perfectly with my outfit. Come on, tonight we are all celebrating July 14th… I could have had this conversation with this lovely guard of the Republic, but truth be told I was telling him that his colleague was rude and wouldn’t let me take pictures in front of the Elysée*. « No miss, no pictures in front of the Palace of the Republic » he told me before I could even explain to him the angle I was trying to get for the picture. And frankly, why are we talking about a palace? There is no Queen Elizabeth here or even a king, [...]

Petite?

“Everything small is cute!”  You’ll never hear than coming from a petite person. It will be a man, a rather tall man, who finds a certain comfort, to not say a semblance of virility, in protecting this little thing he has in front of him… He’s the one who will say that to you, full of good intentions, this CLICHÉ! Yes, it’s a cliché, because ask him to prove his point, he’ll be incapable of it, he just finds petite women cute. There’s also that friend, the tall skinny blonde, wearing ballerinas, the perfect Parisian who goes around exclusively by metro and doesn’t [...]

Something pretty and wearable, not made for show! Mary Katrantzou

When they called me to ask if I wanted to have coffee with Mary Katrantzou, I was concentrated on my article on the Amalfi Coast. I was wearing my old jeans and a white t-shirt, a far cry from her bold creations… Two hours later, I was on schedule in my working uniform and it was impossible to hide my joy! Coffee, not bloody maries, accompanied our riveting discussion. Mary Katrantzou, its minimalism and maximalism in the same silhouette, minimalism in the cuts and maximalism in the creativity. We can’t place her in any category. In “Le Rinocéros”, a play by Ionesco, [...]

#RabihKayrouz The Leopard Dress

I never thought I would one day wear a leopard print dress! Proof is that I took a photo shoot of this series in february and I totally forgot to publish it… Sorry Rabih! I love prints, but Ive always found leopard print vulgar. One day I found myself in the bathroom with a tall blond wearing a leopard print skirt and shoes… I was staring at her without realizing it and when she saw me I swallowed hard “what a nice idea to match your shoes to your skirt!” I was being mean but I wasn’t gonna tell her that I thought her leopard prints were absolutely vulgar! Mean [...]

#Exhibition Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten is a name respected by fashion connoisseurs and one of the rare living designers to be honoured by an exhibit. A very particular exhibit at the Musée des arts décoratifs in Paris, since it’s not just a retrospective of his designs. He chose to introduce the visitor to his designs by exposing them to clothes from other designers who inspired him like a 70s style outfit by Thierry Mugler, a golden tweed Chanel suit… He also introduces the visitor to scenes from a Visconti movie, classic art pieces from artists like Francis Bacon that influenced the collection but [...]

Paris/ Catagna Catagna/milazzo Milazzo/ Lipari Lipari/ Panarea Panarea

The island of Panarea is worth a visit even off-season. Starting with a Paris/Catania flight at dawn with the wonderful Easy Jet company that is everything but easy unless you take speedy boarding with the option of “choosing the first seat in the plane to stretch your legs”…That being said, the flight only lasts 2h40. Once in Catania, you have two options. A helicopter? A costly trip in the sky to arrive directly in Panarea, or the land and sea combination. Obviously we saved our money for the island so we began our 2 hour journey to Milazzo, almost 2 hours in the ferry to [...]

#styletraveller Sicilittude

Contracted form for Sicily and Attitude. Sometimes you have to go for the essentials. it’s all about Sicilianity. Sicilittude is, in my imaginary, a curvy cocktail of generosity. And this generosity can be surprisingly plain in a black dress, the waist outlined without it being too tight and just enough volume to let someone venture under it…a mommy’s boy under the skirt? A womanizer who refuses to get married? Basically, a Sicilian….Either way, you can take advantage of its design to feel the wind and better tolerate the southern heat. Sicilittude is a beautiful blend [...]
